OB/GYN Pathology

OB/GYN Pathology

The Gynecologic/Obstetrics Pathology service provides interpretation and analysis of full spectrum of gynecological pathology specimens including biopsies and resections received from George Washington University Hospital and outpatient clinics. The Gynecologic Pathology team is a fundamental component in the prevention, diagnosis and management of female genital organs diseases. Our attending pathologists actively provide consultative services during intraoperative consultation and gynecologic tumor boards and they participate in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows.

The group has a very active placental pathology and perinatology service, with more than 1,500 placentas examined every year. We provide gross and microscopic examination of placenta, as well as fetal autopsies. Collaboration with the OB department and perinatalogy service leads to state-of-the-art care of often high-risk pregnancies.

Our pathologists are subspecialty-trained and highly experienced, with a passion for patient care and teaching.
